Villadangos del Paramo – Rabanal del Camino 48km

The day’s route goes through Astorga city after about 30 kilometres of running. Since I’m nicely on schedule I decide to have a proper “siesta” in order to see the city sights. Damn it, after all we aren’t here to have a race.

After the city of Astorga the scenery changes. The Meseta highlands are behind us for good, and we are approaching perhaps the most beautiful mountain scenery of the journey. In the Leon and Lugo province areas, the trail goes up to 1500m at a couple of locations. In the mountains, part of the roads and trails are very rough and more difficult to advance on, but still mostly good running grounds.
