Fromista – Sahagun 59km

After the county of Burgos we have arrived to the Palencia area. We have reached the halfway point of our journey. The Pyrenees Mountains and county of Navarra are behind us, as are the vineyards of La Rioja and the Meseta highlands of Burgos. From Palencia our journey continues to the mountain areas of Leon and Galicia. The highest climbs of the trail are still ahead.

The day dawned sunny. The level route went through endless fields. In the afternoon North Spain’s typical spring weather surprised me and changed from hot and sunny into freezing cold showers of rain. So much for the weather…
